Shopian, Jan 12: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian Monday observed National Youth Day at Brills Coaching Centre, Shopian, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, under the theme “Ignite the Self, Impact the World.”
The programme was organized under the guidance of Chairman DLSA Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary, and Secretary DLSA Shopian, Mudasar Farooq.
Speaking on the occasion, Aamir Ayoub, Assistant LADC Shopian, highlighted the pivotal role of youth in shaping the destiny of the nation. He emphasized that National Youth Day serves as an important platform to inspire, motivate, and empower young minds by drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
He also elaborated on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, which safeguards the rights of children below 18 years while ensuring accountability, and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, which mandates free education up to the age of 14, thereby fostering informed and responsible citizens.
Para Legal Volunteer (PLV), DLSA Shopian, delivered a comprehensive address on free legal aid services, highlighting the functioning of the DLSA and the importance of legal awareness among youth to ensure access to justice and protection of fundamental rights.
The programme witnessed active participation from LADC officials, teachers, PLVs, and a large number of students, who actively engaged in the discussions, making the event informative and impactful.
