Budgam, Jan 22: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the arrangements being put in place at Sports Stadium Budgam for the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations 2026.
During the visit, the DC inspected the venue and took a detailed assessment of preparations related to seating arrangements, stage setup, security, sanitation, drinking water, power supply, medical facilities and overall logistics to ensure smooth and dignified conduct of the district-level function.
The DC directed the R&B Department, Municipal Council Budgam, Jal Shakti Department, KPDCL, Information Department and Health Department to work in close coordination and ensure flawless and time-bound preparations.
He emphasized that all departments must adhere strictly to assigned timelines and maintain high standards befitting the national occasion.
Stressing the importance of weather preparedness, the DC laid special emphasis on robust snow clearance measures, particularly on approach roads, parking areas and within the stadium premises, to avoid any inconvenience to participants and the general public in view of prevailing winter conditions. He instructed the Health Department to ensure availability of medical teams, ambulances and emergency response facilities at the venue, while KPDCL was asked to guarantee uninterrupted power supply with adequate backup arrangements.
The Municipal Council and Jal Shakti Department were directed to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and adequate drinking water facilities.
Highlighting the significance of Republic Day as a symbol of India’s constitutional values, unity and democratic ethos, the DC said that the celebrations should reflect patriotism, inclusiveness and collective participation. He urged all officers and staff to put in their best efforts to make the event memorable and inspiring.
The Deputy Commissioner invited the general public to participate in large numbers in the grand district-level Republic Day celebrations and be part of the national fervour.
“Republic Day is a moment of pride for every citizen. We must ensure that the celebrations are conducted with dignity, discipline and enthusiasm, showcasing our commitment to the Constitution and the spirit of nation-building,” the DC remarked. (Info)
