Jammu, Feb 13: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday said that the dialysis facilities at Sub District Hospital Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district will be made available in the next couple of months.
Replying to a question of MLA Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Health and Medical Education Department Minister Sakeena Itoo, said that the Government is sensitive of the need to strengthen the dialysis facilities in all SDHs/CHCs and as such targeted to saturate the same over the two years.
“The process has been initiated by supplementing the NHM budget through J&K’s own resources as well. Accordingly, the Dialysis Unit at Hospital Tral has been prioritised in the first Phase and is in the final stage of completion and shall be operationalized in a couple of months. The infrastructure cost on account of establishment of Dialysis Unit at SDH Tral is estimated Rs 37.80 lakhs (15.80 lakhs Machinery, 12.63 lakhs RO Plant and 29.22 lakhs for Servo Stabilizer UPS and ACs), besides, civil costs as per the site requirement,” she said.
“The Dialysis Unit at SDH Tral is technically ready for operationalization. However, an online UPS System and other allied equipment are awaited from the executing agency JKM&HED, which is being expedited to facilitate the start of the dialysis unit at the earliest,” the Minister said.
Sakeena added that the manpower required for running the Dialysis Unit has already been trained thereby, ensuring readiness for immediate operationalization of the unit upon completion of the remaining power-related works.
“The procurement of the Phacoemulsification Unit at SDH Tral was planned to be procured for the Ophthalmic Unit of SDH Tral under the CSS-National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) during the previous financial yeur 2024-25 and a formal requisition was submitted to Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) to affect the procurement. However, non-availability of a standing rate contract by JKMSCL could not procure the machine. Subsequently, further attempts were made to procure the Phacoemulsification Machine through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal. However, adequate or responsive participation wasn’t received which resulted in non-procurement,” she said.
Itoo assured that the department will explore the possibilities to procure the said machine for Sub District Hospital Tral during the Financial Year 2026-27, subject to availability of funds.
