Enforce price control mechanisms

In this holy month, many families battle an all-too-familiar hardship due to the steep rise in prices of essentials. The economically weaker sections are grappling with the burden of inflated costs of food items, vegetables, meat and other daily necessities. Demand for fruits and other essentials naturally increases in this holy month, but that cannot justify unchecked profiteering. The true spirit of Ramadhan lies in empathy and restraint, not in exploiting demand for excessive gains. The government must act decisively. Market checking squads should be strengthened and made visible across districts to deter hoarding and black marketing. Price control mechanisms must be enforced rigorously, with clear penalties for violators. Authorities should ensure that rate lists are publicly displayed and adhered to strictly. Surprise inspections and helplines for consumers to report overcharging can further enhance accountability. Traders and wholesalers must recognize their moral obligation during this sacred month. Ethical business practices should prevail over short-term profit motives. Religious and community leaders can also play a constructive role by urging fairness and discouraging exploitation. Ramadhan is a time to uplift the vulnerable, not push them deeper into distress. Ensuring stable prices and fair trade practices is a moral imperative. The government must take apt, firm measures so that no one is allowed to raise prices arbitrarily, and every household can observe the month with dignity and peace.
