Doodhpathri Development Authority restricts ATV, Snow Mobile operations to registered units

Srinagar, Feb 23: The Doodhpathri Development Authority has ordered strict regulation of All Terrain Vehicles and snow mobiles operating within its jurisdiction, directing that only registered units with official permission be allowed to function in the tourist area.
According to an official order issued by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, Doodhpathri Development Authority, several ATVs were found to have been procured and operated without prior approval from the competent authority. The order notes that such unauthorized operations pose potential risks to the life and property of visitors.
As per records available with the authority, 18 ATVs are currently registered with the Tourism Department and have been granted provisional permission after completing required formalities based on recommendations of a committee constituted by the Director Tourism Kashmir.
In view of safety concerns, the authority has directed that only those ATVs and snow mobiles duly registered and permitted shall be allowed to operate within the limits of Doodhpathri. A list of approved vehicles has been enclosed as an annexure to the order.
Copies of the directive have been forwarded to the Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Director Tourism Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, SDPO Khansahib and SHO Police Station Khansahib for information and necessary action to ensure enforcement.
The order is aimed at regulating adventure tourism activities in Doodhpathri and ensuring structured oversight ahead of increased tourist movement. [KNT]
