Srinagar, Feb 25: In connection with the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Sundeep Chakravarthy on Tuesday visited the Yatra Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk to take onsite stock of the preparations being undertaken for the smooth and seamless conduct of annual SANJY-2026.
The DC reviewed arrangements related to registration, accommodation, bedding, sanitation, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare facilities, security deployment, traffic management and other essential services at the Transit Camp, a halt site for pilgrims traveling to the Shri Amarnathji cave. He also took stock of other amenities to ensure they meet the needs of the yatris.
The DC also inspected the readiness of Yatri Facilitation Center, which will handle critical services such as e-KYC verification, RFID card distribution, and registration to streamline the pilgrimage process.
The DC directed the concerned departments to undertake proactive measures for necessary augmentation of facilities well ahead of the commencement of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 to ensure timely completion of all works and to maintain close coordination for the smooth and efficient management of the Yatra. He stressed upon maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety and public convenience to facilitate a hassle-free stay for the visiting pilgrims.
The DC also directed the Superintending Engineers of R&B and PHE Departments to ascertain requirements on ground for further facilitation of the Yatris.
Emphasizing pilgrim comfort, the DC stressed the need for seamless coordination among departments to enhance services at the Camp. Special attention was laid on ensuring proper sanitation facilities, availability of clean drinking water, electricity and setting up of Langars (community kitchens) to provide nutritious meals.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Aadil Fareed, Joint Commissioner SMC, Syed Abul Qasim, Superintending Engineer R&B, Tatheer Manzoor, Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti, Anbreen Anjum, SDM East, Zubair Ahmad, Deputy Director Information, Mohammad Rafiq Zulla, DPO Panthachowk Zohaib Ahmad, DSP Traffic, Suhail Ahmad, Tehsildar Pantha Chowk, Muzamil Zaman, Chief Sanitation Officer, Mudasir Ahmad Banday, & other senior Officers of Police and District Administration Srinagar accompanied the DC and the SSP during the visit.
