Police crack theft case in Pulwama, stolen vehicle recovered

Srinagar, Mar 17: Demonstrating swift and effective policing, Police in Pulwama solved a theft case within days of reporting and recovered the stolen vehicle.
According to a statement, on 14/03/2026, Police Station Kakapora received a written complaint from Mohd Noor Alam son of Abdul Hashim resident of Banagogi, Badalgawun, District Nagaon (Assam), stating that unknown thieves had stolen his Auto Rickshaw bearing registration No. JK04D-3791 from Kakapora Chowk. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 20/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was taken up.
Acting promptly on a specific input, a team from Police Station Kakapora apprehended one suspect identified as Yawar Ahmad Shaksaz son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Karnabal Samboora. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to the commission of the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen auto at his instance.
During further investigation, the accused also disclosed his involvement in another theft case. He, along with an accomplice namely Amir Ahmad Sofi son of Gh Mohd Sofi resident of Astan Mohalla Kakapora, had stolen batteries from vehicles parked at Okhoo in July last year. Acting on this disclosure, some of the stolen batteries have also been recovered. Further investigation is underway.
J&K Police remains committed to ensuring safety and security of citizens and urges the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police establishment. (KNO)
