Srinagar, Apr 30: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a Srinagar resident for allegedly duping people of money on the promise of providing JDA land and government jobs, officials said.
In a statement, a spokesperson said the Economic Offences Wing Kashmir (EOW) of Crime Branch J&K submitted a chargesheet in case FIR No. 84/2022 under Section 420 RPC against Bashir Ahmad Bhat S/o Abdul Gani Bhat R/o Astanpora, Tailbal Hazratbal Srinagar before the court of Judge Small Causes Srinagar.
He said the key details of the case are that in January 2019, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Asthanpora Tailbal, Srinagar, was accused of fraudulently obtaining a large sum of money from the complainants.
“He promised to provide JDA land in Jammu and arrange government jobs for the relatives of the complainants. However, he failed to deliver the land and fulfil his job promises.”
The spokesperson said, subsequently, an investigation was launched, which revealed that Bashir Ahmad Bhat had intentionally deceived the complainants and dishonestly obtained their money through false assurances. The evidence gathered confirmed the commission of cheating under Section 420 RPC. Accordingly, a chargesheet was filed before the Hon’ble Court for judicial adjudication.
“The general public is advised to remain vigilant against economic fraudsters and report any such incidents directly to SSP EOW Kashmir (Crime Branch J&K) Abdul Waheed Shah. If you have been a victim of economic fraud, you may also send your complaint to the official email: [email protected].” (KNO)
