One dead, two injured in electrocution incidents across Srinagar

Srinagar, May 13: A laborer died while two other persons sustained injuries in three separate electrocution incidents reported from different parts of Srinagar on Wednesday, officials said.
Police said a police party from Police Station Soura shifted an electrocuted person to SKIMS Soura in an unconscious condition after he accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire while working at Hawal.
The deceased was identified as Noorani Gojar Turk, son of Khameem Ghulam Turk, a resident of Chuntimullah Bandipora, aged around 40 years.
According to officials, he was working as a laborer for a private company identified as “Green Glouse” at Hyderpora and had reportedly been painting an electric pole near Islamia College Hawal when the incident occurred.
Doctors at SKIMS declared him brought dead after examination.
In another incident, an electrocuted burn victim was brought to SMHS Hospital Srinagar from Munawarabad area.
Officials said the injured person was identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Ganderbal, aged around 45 years. According to attendants, he was working at Hotel Numrooz in Munawarabad when he suffered an electric shock.
Hospital sources said his condition was stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, another electrocution case was reported from Kursoo Rajbagh area, where a hotel worker allegedly suffered an electric shock while on duty at Hotel Vilasta.
The injured youth was identified as Imran Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Maqbool Lone, a resident of Sopore. He was shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of all the incidents. [KNT]
