Srinagar, Jun 5: National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday confirmed that his party will participate in the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled to be held on June 8.
Speaking to reporters at Hazratbal in Srinagar, Abdullah said the National Conference remains part of the opposition alliance and will be represented at the meeting.
“One of us will go and attend the meeting. We are part of the INDIA bloc,” Abdullah said when asked whether he would be participating in the gathering.
While he did not specify who would represent the party, his remarks put to rest speculation regarding the National Conference’s participation in the opposition alliance meeting.
The INDIA bloc, comprising several opposition parties from across the country, has been holding consultations on a range of political and national issues.
The National Conference has remained a constituent of the alliance and has consistently advocated cooperation among opposition parties on matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir as well as broader national issues. [KNT]
