Srinagar, Jun 10: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday announced a new commercial stoppage of the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag following a meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in New Delhi.
According to a statement, the meeting focused on ongoing and future railway projects aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement said the decision to introduce a stoppage at Anantnag will benefit commuters, tourists and traders by providing improved access to one of Kashmir’s key economic and cultural centres.
The Railway Minister, as per the statement, reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to the development of Jammu and Kashmir and said the Anantnag stoppage reflects the government’s efforts to address local aspirations through improved infrastructure and connectivity. (KNO)
