Rajouri, Jun 16: Four Army personnel, including an officer, were injured in an accidental mine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district on Tuesday.
Sources said the blast occurred in a forward area along the LoC when a landmine accidentally exploded during operational activity, leaving four soldiers injured.
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated from the area and shifted for medical treatment. Due to the nature of their injuries, all four were subsequently being shifted to the Military Hospital in Udhampur for specialized care, sources added.
The injured include an Army officer and three soldiers. Their condition could not be immediately ascertained.
Officials said the explosion was accidental in nature. The blast triggered a swift response from Army personnel deployed in the area, following which the injured were provided immediate medical assistance and evacuated from the forward location.
The Nowshera sector, situated along the Line of Control in Rajouri district, remains a sensitive area with extensive defensive deployments, including minefields laid as part of security measures.
Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the blast are awaited. [KNT]
