Preparedness, training critical elements for disaster response: DGP

Srinagar, Jun 18: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party president Syed Muhammad Altaf on Thursday welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant development towards de-escalation in the region.
In a statement issued here, Altaf Bukhari said the agreement came after months of heightened tensions that had implications beyond the two countries, including for India.
“It is a matter of great satisfaction that the US and Iran have finally signed an MoU aimed at ending the conflict between them,” Apni Party President said.
He said the world needed peace and stability, and not confrontation or bloodshed.
Altaf expressed hope that the MoU would act as a precursor to a comprehensive and durable peace deal, and help bring an end to the long-standing conflicts in the Middle East.
The world today needs peace and stability—not conflict and bloodshed,” he added.
The Apni Party chief urged all stakeholders to continue dialogue and build on the momentum generated by the agreement. (KNS)
