Jammu, Jun 19: Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Sonali Mishra on Friday said a multi-layered security mechanism has been put in place at Jammu Railway Station ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra to ensure the safe and smooth movement of pilgrims and other passengers.
After reviewing security and logistical arrangements at the station, Mishra, told reporters that manpower deployment has been strengthened and advanced technical gadgets and modern security equipment are being extensively used as part of the security grid.
“We have reviewed all arrangements and are further strengthening the system. The work is being carried out in close coordination with all agencies and stakeholders,” she said.
Mishra said detailed discussions were held on security preparedness and coordination among various agencies to ensure seamless implementation of measures during the pilgrimage.
She said multiple layers of security involving the RPF, Government Railway Police (GRP), local police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), district police and railway departments have been established.
She said all agencies are working in coordination to ensure foolproof arrangements for pilgrims undertaking the annual pilgrimage to the cave shrine in south Kashmir as well as tourists travelling to the Valley.
The DG RPF said efforts are being made to provide a safe, secure and hassle-free experience to passengers while maintaining robust security measures throughout the Yatra period.
She expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders would ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. (KNO)
