Srinagar, Jun 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police has been honoured with the Institutional Performance Award for State Police in Passport Seva 2025–26, earning the distinction for the second consecutive year.
The award, presented by the Union External Affairs Minister in New Delhi, recognises J&K Police’s outstanding contribution to speedy passport verification, citizen-centric service delivery and good governance.
In a statement, a spokesperson said J&K Police has achieved yet another significant milestone by being adjudged as one of the Best Performers in Passport Seva for 2025–26, marking its second consecutive recognition in the prestigious category. Notably, J&K Police had received this distinction for the first time during the previous year.
The spokesperson said J&K Police was conferred with the Institutional Performance Award for State Police during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations and Regional Passport Officers’ Conference held from June 17 to 19 at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in New Delhi. The Certificate of Recognition and Plaque of Appreciation was presented by the Union External Affairs Minister in recognition of the force’s high standards of service, commitment and contribution to good governance through speedy police verification for passports and related services.
“This achievement reflects the department’s unwavering commitment to efficient, transparent and citizen-centric service delivery. During the period from April 2025 to March 2026, J&K Police successfully completed 1,64,354 passport application verifications, demonstrating exceptional efficiency and dedication in processing passport-related services,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that the initiative has significantly enhanced public trust, strengthened ease of travel for citizens and supported both personal and professional aspirations. The accolade underscores J&K Police’s broader mission of delivering excellence in public service and reinforces its role as a model of responsive policing in India. (KNO)
