Urgent attention needed

As Youm-e-Ashura is observed across Jammu and Kashmir today, millions will remember the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions in the plains of Karbala. More than thirteen centuries after the tragic events of Muharram 10, the message of Karbala continues to resonate across communities, cultures and generations. The martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) was not merely a historical event but a timeless stand for truth, justice, dignity and moral courage. Faced with oppression and tyranny, Imam Hussain (AS) chose the path of sacrifice rather than compromise, leaving behind a legacy that inspires humanity to uphold principles even in the face of overwhelming adversity. Youm-e-Ashura serves as a reminder that the struggle between justice and injustice is not confined to any era. The values embodied by Imam Hussain (AS), integrity, compassion, patience and steadfastness, remain as relevant today as they were in 680 CE. His sacrifice teaches that material power can never triumph over moral conviction and that enduring change often requires personal sacrifice. In Jammu and Kashmir, where people from different faiths and backgrounds have long shared traditions of mutual respect and coexistence, the observance of Ashura also offers an opportunity to reflect on the importance of communal harmony and social solidarity. The lessons of Karbala encourage society to stand against hatred, injustice and division while promoting peace and understanding. As mourners gather to pay tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions, the true spirit of Ashura lies not only in remembrance but also in the application of its teachings. The enduring message of Karbala calls upon humanity to uphold truth, defend justice and work towards a more compassionate and equitable society.
