Baramulla, Jun 27: Baramulla district is all set to host a major Zone Run event Sunday, bringing together athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across the country. The event will commence at 4:30 AM and conclude by 8:00 AM.
Speaking about the event, CEO Gandola Tariq Ahmad Naik said that such programmes inspire and encourage youth to overcome challenges while promoting a spirit of unity and brotherhood. He said that participants are arriving not only from Baramulla but also from various parts of India, making the event a platform for interaction and national integration.
Naik described the initiative as a positive step and stressed that similar sporting events should be organised in every district headquarters to engage and motivate young people towards healthy and productive activities.
Referring to the anti-drug campaign launched across Jammu and Kashmir, he urged the youth to stay away from social evils and harmful activities and embrace sports and fitness as a way of life. He also highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is globally known for its beauty, peace and hospitality.
Notably, CEO Gandola Tariq Ahmad Naik will also participate in the Zone Run alongside hundreds of athletes and runners. Around 800 participants are expected to take part in the event, including nearly 250 athletes from different states of the country.
The Zone Run will feature three categories — 5 km, 10 km and 21 km — with cash prizes worth up to Rs 5 lakh for winners and top performers.
