Srinagar, Jul 4: What began as a routine step outside her home turned into a nightmare for 72-year-old Azzii Begum, a resident of Gulshan Nagar, Nowgam, after she was brutally attacked by a stray dog.
The elderly woman sustained severe facial injuries, including serious trauma to one of her eyes, and required multiple stitches.
Family members said that the injuries were so extensive that doctors have advised her to undergo reconstructive (plastic) surgery.
Her son, Manzoor Ahmad, described the incident as devastating.
“My 72-year-old mother had only stepped outside when a stray dog suddenly attacked her. She suffered deep injuries to her face and eye, and doctors have told us that she will now need reconstructive surgery. No family should have to witness an elderly woman endure such pain,” he said.
He urged the authorities to take immediate and effective measures to tackle the growing stray dog menace before another innocent person suffers a similar ordeal.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over public safety amid recurring stray dog attacks in Srinagar.
Residents said stray dog attacks continue to pose a serious threat in several localities and urged the authorities to strengthen control measures to ensure the safety of the public, particularly children and senior citizens. (KNO)
