Jammu, Jul 10: Leader of Opposition and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunil Sharma on Friday categorically ruled out his party’s participation in the National Conference’s proposed July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for the restoration of statehood.
Talking to reporters during a press conference, Sharma said the BJP would not join the demonstration, alleging that the National Conference was sharing the platform with people who had earlier espoused separatist ideology.
“They are inviting people who till yesterday, were talking about the ideology of separatism. They are thieves and thugs. The BJP will not join such a protest,” Sharma said.
He asserted that the BJP has a clear stand on the issue and would not associate itself with the National Conference’s programme.
The Leader of Opposition also announced that the BJP would launch a mass movement against the Jammu and Kashmir government’s outsourcing policy.
He said the party would begin its agitation with a gherao of the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar on July 20, alleging that the outsourcing policy was detrimental to the interests of unemployed youth and deserved to be withdrawn.
Sharma said the BJP would continue to raise public issues through democratic means and intensify its campaign against what he termed anti-public policies of the government. [KNT]
