Over 400 roads restored in Jammu: Lt Governor

Srinagar, Jul 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the construction of two Unity Malls—one each in Srinagar and Jammu, at a cumulative cost of Rs 255 crore, with the projects aimed at promoting local artisans, traditional crafts and regional entrepreneurship.
The announcement was made by the Office of the Chief Minister through an official statement, describing the proposed malls as landmark commercial projects designed to provide a dedicated platform for the sale and promotion of handloom, handicraft and GI-tagged products from across the Union Territory.
According to the government, the Unity Malls will also create opportunities for regional entrepreneurs by offering modern commercial spaces that are expected to strengthen tourism, trade and employment in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance market access for local producers while showcasing the region’s rich cultural and artisanal heritage to visitors from across the country and abroad. [KNT]
