Don’t need certificate from Omar Abdullah: Sunil Sharma

Accuses govt of sports quota 'scam'

Defence Minister pays tributes to 1999 ‘Kargil War’ heroes

Srinagar, July 25: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Saturday accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led National Conference government of manipulating sports quota appointments and shielding those behind the 2012 MBBS paper leak scam, while making it clear that he neither seeks nor needs any “certificate” from the royal family scion.
Sunil Sharma said, “I don’t want a certificate from Omar Abdullah. I don’t want a personal fight with him. But he is from a royal family. He doesn’t like me being an LoP from a poor family. It is not his level. If he were a child of a poor family, then he would have liked it.”
Alleging large-scale irregularities in government appointments, BJP leader claimed the administration scrapped existing policies to favour a select few. “There is a constitutional provision for outstanding sportspersons. After a long period, 223 people were appointed. We have no complaints about who was appointed, but the complaint is that those deserving were ignored,” he said.
“By scrapping the policy, a matric pass student is made a Dy SP or a gazetted officer. The policy was scrapped because blue-eyed boys were to be appointed there. This will be a big scam and scandal, and the BJP will fight to expose it,” he said.
The LoP also raked up the 2012 MBBS admission scam, directly pointing fingers at the Chief Minister. “In 2012, the MBBS that was sold for lakhs of rupees was done under the nose of Omar Abdullah. The person who did the scam was promoted, reappointed, and rewarded. Omar Abdullah made him a consultant. He cannot run away from this. J.P. Nadda said it, but the date was wrong — it was 2012,” he said.
He said this is not a fight between Jammu and Kashmir. This is a fight between two farms. The children of both farms have been ignored. The children of some influential people have been given jobs. The policy has been violated. We are against all this.
“I will not praise the CM. I will not sing a song for him. I will raise my voice against the party on which they are sitting,” the BJP leader said, vowing an uncompromising opposition to the government. (KNS)
