Srinagar, Aug 11: President of Hot Mix Plant Owners Association (HMPO) Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Khan on Tuesday said that macadamisation works have resumed in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir with the pace expected to pick up further after August 15.
Khan said the work has started in the summer capital, though it is currently progressing at a slow pace. “We hope the speed will increase in the coming days and will pick up further after August 15,” he said.
Khan said the recent meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other officials was fruitful, adding that the association hopes the assurances given by the government will be adhered to. “Some issues are still pending and we hope those will also be addressed. Once these issues are resolved, the work will be expedited after August 15,” he said.
An official from R&B said that all approved macadamisation works have already been tendered and allotted. “The macadamisation has commenced in many areas of the Valley and is expected to be substantially completed within the next month, subject to weather conditions and availability of funds,” he said.
Pertinently, the macadamisation process had remained affected amid differences between contractors and hot mix plant owners over issues including pending payments, cost escalation and other matters. (KNO)
