DGP reviews security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), Raksha Bandhan

Srinagar, Aug 25: Director General of Police J&K Nalin Prabhat on Tuesday reviewed security preparedness across Jammu and Kashmir for the forthcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), the Friday following Eid Milad-un-Nabi(SAW), Raksha Bandhan and other events.
The DGP chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, which was attended by Spl DGP Coordination J&K, IGPs of Kashmir and Jammu zones, all Range DIGs, district SSPs/PDs, SSP PCR Kashmir, AIG (Ct & Int) PHQ and other senior officers.
The meeting reviewed security preparedness, deployment strategies, crowd management and traffic regulation arrangements for the forthcoming events.
Prabhat directed officers to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure comprehensive security arrangements, particularly around major shrines, mosques and other religious places where large congregations are expected.
Special attention was given to Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent religious sites where nightlong prayers and large gatherings are anticipated. Officers were directed to ensure adequate security coverage and close coordination among field formations for a timely response to any emerging situation.
The DGP also directed officers to strengthen surveillance at sensitive and vulnerable locations and ensure effective deployment at strategic and high-footfall areas.
Traffic regulation and route-management plans around major religious places and along procession routes were also reviewed, with officers directed to ensure the smooth movement of devotees and minimize inconvenience to the public.
The arrangements for Raksha Bandhan were also discussed, with directions issued for advance security and traffic management at markets and temples besides enhanced surveillance around prominent religious places.
The DGP directed all officers to put necessary security, traffic and crowd-management arrangements in place well in advance for the peaceful and safe conduct of the forthcoming events across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
