Haijan Brenwar on threshold of J&K tourism map: Rather

Srinagar, Sep 3: A wave of jubilation has swept across the general populace of Budgam district, particularly among the youth and tourism stakeholders, following the initiation of infrastructure development works at Haijan Brenwar, a picturesque and peaceful offbeat destination in the Chadoora area of Budgam district.
People cutting across socio-political affiliations have expressed their gratitude to Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and MLA Chrar-i-Sharief Abdul Rahim Rather, for taking the initiative to develop tourism infrastructure at the scenic Haijan meadow. The infrastructure work, estimated at Rs 68 lakh, has been officially tendered Thursday.
The tourism stakeholders and local residents said that the issuance of the tender has once again demonstrated A.R. Rather’s commitment and seriousness towards public welfare, development and promotion of tourism in the region. They expressed hope that the development of basic infrastructure would open new avenues of tourism and employment for local youth while placing Haijan Brenwar prominently on the tourism map of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the development of Haijan Brenwar as a potential tourist resort, the Speaker said that his mission was to transform the entire Chrar-i-Sharief constituency into a model constituency of Jammu and Kashmir, with special emphasis on tourism promotion, infrastructure development and creation of sustainable livelihood opportunities for the local population. He said that the natural beauty and tranquil surroundings of Haijan provide immense potential for developing it as an attractive tourist destination while ensuring that its pristine character and ecological balance are preserved.
Located near Brenwar village in Budgam district, Haijan is approximately 36 kilometres from Srinagar. The scenic destination is surrounded by lush green meadows, expansive open fields and tall pine and coniferous trees, with a clear stream flowing through the valley, adding to its natural charm.
The local community and tourism stakeholders expressed hope that the planned infrastructure development would give a significant boost to Haijan’s tourism potential, generate employment opportunities for local youth and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the Chadoora and Budgam areas.
