Srinagar, Sep 6: Education and Health Minister Sakeena Itoo has conveyed her intent to take the lead in resolving the ongoing issue concerning medical interns, as the matter falls directly within her department, sources familiar with the developments said on Sunday.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the sources said, has so far opted against intervening directly, allowing Itoo to address the matter at the departmental level.
The development comes amid an ongoing protest by medical interns over their pending demands.
Sources said Itoo has expressed her willingness to engage with the matter and pursue a resolution through discussions at the departmental level.
The chief minister, while keeping track of the situation, has so far left the issue to the minister concerned to resolve, the sources said. (KNS)
