IFFJK reflects improved peace, tourism climate in Kashmir: BJP

Srinagar, Sep 8: BJP J&K spokesperson Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia on Tuesday described the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) as a reflection of the improved peace and development environment in the region, crediting the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Addressing a press conference, Jasrotia said Kashmir’s image had changed significantly from the days of protests, hartals and violence, and pointed to the film festival as an example of the transformation.
He also criticised the National Conference, referring to the 1987 Assembly elections and questioning its contribution to the prevailing atmosphere of peace.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said developments since 2019 had helped Jammu and Kashmir attract major international events, including the G20 summit and sporting programmes.
Taking a political dig at the National Conference leadership, Thakur jokingly suggested that filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra shoot Bhagam Bhag 2 at the NC headquarters, Nawa-e-Subah, with Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Sakina Itoo in lead roles. (KINS)
