Srinagar, Sep 8: The President of India on Tuesday appointed Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, to discharge the functions of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in addition to his own duties, during the absence on leave of Manoj Sinha, the incumbent LG of J&K.
In a statement, Rashtrapati Bhavan said that the LG of Ladakh will discharge the functions of the LG of Jammu & Kashmir until Manoj Sinha returns from leave.
Manoj Sinha, who is currently abroad, is expected to return on September 17.
The President empowered the LG of Ladakh to discharge the functions of the LG of Jammu & Kashmir ahead of the swearing‑in ceremony of the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Vinai Kumar Saxena, who is currently in Srinagar, is expected to administer the oath to Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Shalimar Convention Centre of SKUAST‑Kashmir.
The SKUAST‑Kashmir administration has ordered suspension of all official and academic work at the main campus to facilitate the smooth and hassle‑free conduct of the event.
The SKUAST auditorium has been chosen as the venue for the oath‑taking ceremony, as SKICC is currently hosting the International Film Festival. (KNO)
