DC Budgam visits Charar-i-Sharief, reviews arrangements for Urs

Budgam, Oct 5: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Monday visited Charar-i-Sharief to review arrangements for the forthcoming Urs and facilities for devotees.
The Deputy Commissioner paid obeisance at the revered shrine of Sheik Nooruddin Noorani (RA) and inspected the ongoing development works, including the under-construction Guest House comprising 12 rooms and two halls.
During visit, the DC interacted with local residents and stakeholders and assured them that their genuine concerns would be examined on priority.
The Deputy Commissioner subsequently chaired a meeting at Town Hall Charar-i-Sharief with concerned officers to review preparations for the Urs. He directed PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply and keep backup arrangements in place. Officers from Jal Shakti Department were instructed to ensure adequate water supply and availability of water tankers.
For seamless transport facility, the ARTO was directed to ensure adequate public transport and proper parking arrangements to facilitate smooth traffic movement. CMO Budgam was asked to establish a medical camp near the shrine.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed concerned Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Charar-i-Sharief, to ensure cleanliness, sanitation and proper illumination in the town and around the shrine.
Similarly, the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department was directed to ensure timely distribution of ration of October month.
while the Food Safety Department was asked to intensify market inspections and prevent adulteration, overcharging and sale of substandard food items.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed close coordination among all concerned departments and directed officers to remain available on the ground and ensure prompt redressal of issues during the Urs.
He reiterated that all arrangements should be completed well in advance to ensure a safe, peaceful and hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also visited the revered shrine of Syed Mohammad Ali Aali Balkhi (RA), Pakherpora and paid his obeisance. He took stock of ongoing works and stressed on their timely completion.
The DC was accompanied by SDM Chadoora, CMO, concerned R&B, PHE and KPDCL officers, Tehsildar Charar-i-Sharief, ARTO, EO MC Charar-i-Sharief and other officers.
