Manjakote, Oct 6: Khan Educational Higher Secondary School, Manjakote Tuesday felicitated ‘Beyond the Border’ author and school alumnus Mohd Aaqib Khan. The event was organised under the supervision and management of the school Principal, Dr. Rabia, along with the school management and staff.
The event was attended by the Commanding Officer of the Indian Army as the Chief Guest, along with SDPO Manjakote Shahid Naheem, BDO Manjakote Aijaz Ahmad, BMO Manjakote Dr Shahid Bhatti; and SHO Manjakote Deepak Kumar. Members of the media fraternity, school management, teaching staff, students, members from media fraternity and other distinguished guests including Bilal Mughal, Tazim Malik were also present.
Beyond the Border documents the lives, experiences and challenges of communities residing in India’s frontier regions. Drawing from Aaqib Khan’s journalistic and field-based experience, the book explores border life, security concerns, defence issues and the role of the Indian Army, while highlighting the resilience, aspirations and everyday realities of people living in these areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Rabia praised Aaqib Khan’s achievements and described him as “a source of pride for this institution.” She said that his journey from the classrooms of the institution to establishing himself as a journalist, writer and author serves as an inspiring example for the school’s students. She emphasised that Aaqib’s achievements demonstrate what students can accomplish through dedication, hard work, discipline and professional commitment.
Further speaking on the occasion, SDPO Manjakote Shahid Naheem, appreciated Aaqib Khan’s approach to journalism and praised his commitment to professional and research-based reporting. He highlighted that Aaqib’s work reflects a serious effort to understand issues beyond their surface and present them with proper research, field-based observations and journalistic responsibility.
The dignitaries appreciated the author’s efforts to document the experiences and concerns of border communities and congratulated him on the publication of the book. The event also reflected the school’s appreciation and pride in the achievements of its alumnus and provided students an opportunity to interact with and learn from a former student who has pursued a career in journalism and authored a book based on the realities of frontier communities.
The school management expressed its appreciation for the author’s achievements and wished him continued success in his future literary and journalistic endeavours.
