New Delhi, Oct 9: Operation Sindoor and ongoing global conflicts have reinforced the importance of air power in modern warfare, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said here on Friday. He stressed the need to anticipate technological changes to prepare for future conflicts.
Addressing a seminar at the Air Force Auditorium in New Delhi, Air Chief AP Singh, said the rapidly changing nature of technology is transforming warfare and that armed forces need to prepare for future challenges rather than react after they emerge.
“The rate at which the technology is changing is bringing change in the character of warfare. If we do not anticipate, if we don’t look at the future, if we just wait for it to happen and then adapt, then it might be too late,” he said.
Referring to the centrality of air power, the IAF chief cited ongoing global conflicts and India’s experience during Operation Sindoor last year as examples of its growing importance in modern warfare.
“CAPS mentioned the centrality of air power. There is no doubt about it because you look at the two contests, the two wars that are going on in the world, or you look at our own experience of last year, Operation Sindoor, that four-day war that proved very clearly that it is the air power which is going to get you decisive victory,” he said.
“It is the air power which is going to be used majorly in any contest,” Singh added. (KNO)
