Cabinet expansion to take place after Lt Governor’s return: Dr Farooq

Srinagar, Oct 19: Srinagar International Airport has withdrawn restrictions limiting operations to 8 am to 5 pm, paving the way for flights beyond 5 pm, subject to operational requirements, ahead of the winter schedule beginning October 25.
An official at Srinagar International Airport said that the restrictions on airport operational hours have been withdrawn, allowing flight operations to be planned as per the applicable schedule and operational requirements.
The official said airlines are in the process of filing slots for late-evening flights to and from Srinagar, which are expected to enhance air connectivity and provide greater flexibility to passengers during the winter season.
The Winter Schedule 2026 will come into effect on October 25. The schedule is expected to facilitate the planning of flight operations beyond the previously restricted hours, subject to the approved schedule and operational requirements.
The airport had been operating within the 8 am to 5 pm window amid runway maintenance work. In July, authorities withdrew a proposal for full runway closure on Mondays and Tuesdays, allowing flights to continue on all days, while restricted operational hours and night-time runway maintenance remained in place.
The extension of operational hours is expected to provide airlines with greater flexibility in scheduling flights, including late-evening services, as the airport transitions to its winter schedule. (KNO)
