Hyderabad, Nov 2: Reiterating Centre’s commitment to eliminate terrorism from the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the government is working on a plan to make India ‘drug-free’ by 2029.
Addressing a public gathering in Hyderabad, Telangana, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to eliminate terrorism and he has fulfilled it. The government acted against terrorism through surgical strikes, airstrikes and Operation Sindoor.”
The Union Home Minister also reiterated the Centre’s commitment to make India drug-free by December 31, 2029, saying the government would eliminate drugs from the country before the deadline.
Targeting Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Shah accused him of turning the state into an “ATM” for Congress leaders in Delhi and alleged that the six guarantees promised by Rahul Gandhi had not been fulfilled.
He also challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to participate in a discussion in a special session of Parliament, alleging that the opposition was deliberately disrupting parliamentary proceedings.
“Parliament’s responsibilities are discharged through the country’s Constitution, but Rahul ji does not allow Parliament to function. We are ready to convene a special session. Come and participate in a discussion,” Shah said.
Taking a swipe at Gandhi over his criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Shah said the BJP had won the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections without any such exercise.
He also cited the BJP’s electoral victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi and Bihar, accusing the Congress of questioning election results when it failed to win.
Shah further said the BJP would ensure that every infiltrator was removed from electoral rolls, reiterating the party’s position on illegal immigration.
Referring to Hyderabad’s integration with India, HM Shah paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and said the city would not have become part of the country had Patel not made the Nizam surrender at the time.
He also accused the Congress, BRS and AIMIM of failing to stop alleged corruption in Telangana, claiming that only the BJP under PM Modi’s leadership could address the issue. (KNO)
