The inclusion of a youth from Jammu and Kashmir in the country’s international cricket team has yet again proved the ability and calibre of the young talent here. Umran Malik, after his brilliant debut in Indian Premier League ((IPL) this year, has been selected for the A team of India, which is scheduled to play against South Africa, commencing on November 23, 2021. Umran, who is presently part of the J&K squad playing in the Mushtaq Ali trophy will be representing the country in the forthcoming tour to South Africa this month. These achievements by the youth come at a time when the international players visiting Kashmir, have been asserting that there has been less infrastructure available for the youth here. The lack of infrastructure is certainly pushing the youth here backwards. Compared with the youth from outside Jammu and Kashmir, the youth are getting many chances to showcase their talent. The government has taken a series of initiatives to ensure sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. Many playgrounds have been renovated while many youth also got training from the world class cricketers. However, there is a need to do much more in the field, so that the young and talented youth across Jammu and Kashmir, would be able to showcase their talent so that many deserving youth can be able to achieve their feat in different sports. Like cricket, the youth here in Jammu and Kashmir are also known for their skills in different sports, which need the government’s attention and assistance so that they can make the nation proud and also achieve their goal.
