Process to reshuffle Bandipora hospital staff sees no daylight

Srinagar, Nov 12: More than two months have passed since the chief medical officer (CMO) Bandipora had proposed the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) for the mass reshuffle of doctors and paramedical staff from district hospital and block medical block but so far nothing has happened on the ground.
Sources said that in mid September this year, the district health chief Bandipora had proposed the DHSK for mass reshuffle of doctors and paramedical staff from district hospital and block medical Bandipora.
They said that the proposal was sent to the Directorate of Health Services after repeated complaints on a daily basis from locals as well as patients in different offices on social media regarding the rude behavior and mismanagement of the staff of DH and medical block.
“It is hereby requested to your good self that the mass reshuffle of the whole staff of District Hospital Bandipora and Block Bandipora overstayed both doctors and para-medical staff may be done at an earliest in the interest of better patient care so that the daily based grievances/complaints of general public and patients are redressed,” reads the proposal copy of CMO Bandipora.
However, sources said that even after two months no action has been taken in this regard since then by the top health official of Kashmir.
Sources in Bandipora Heath sector said that many of the employees are stationed at the hospital for a long time, however a few transfers which were done earlier seems to be useless activities as an employee is being transferred from DH to medical block and vice versa which results in no impact in regulatory of services.
Meanwhile, locals said that after the functioning of the new hospital it needs a good system that will serve the people.
“We requested at various times to authorities for a mass reshuffle of staff at DH Bandipora and Block Bandipora, however they always fell to deaf ears. These employees have been appointed here and are continuously working at the same place for more than 20 years,” a group of locals visiting the hospital said.
“We now appeal to Lt Governor to transfer these employees as they have rotten the system and have made health institutions of Bandipora a failure,” the locals added.
Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said that the government had already sought the list of employees stationed at one place for a long time.
“We are compiling the data and soon we will furnish the details,” he said. “This is not only the issue in Bandipora district but in all districts we are looking at the issue very seriously.”
