Srinagar, Nov 27: In a strange development, no drainage project in Kashmir region has been completed in the current financial year of 2021.
The Public Information Officer (PIO) of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) has said that no drainage project was completed by the concerned agency in the fiscal year of 2021.
In a Right to Information (RTI) application filed by activist M M Shuja has sought the details of roads and drainage projects that were completed during the current year till 30-09-2020 in Kashmir Division, the PIO in a reply has said, “No drainage project has been completed yet in the current financial year of 2021 in Kashmir division.”
In the meantime, the RTI applicant had also sought the details of schemes under ERA that were not completed within the target period with reason.
“The original date of commencement was 15-07-2013 and completion on 14-07-2016,” the PIO said.
The ERA also said that the contractor did not complete the project due to slow progress and insufficient mobilization of resources.
“Few works were executed through alternate agencies at their risk and cost. Later the sub-project was foreclosed on 30-04-2019,” the PIO said.
