Indoor Stadium in Sumbal turned into Covid-19 care centre

Bandipora, Apr 30: In view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases, authorities in Sumbal Tehsil of Bandipora has planned to covert the indoor stadium into a temporary Covid-19 care centre with arrangements of 90 beds for infected patients.

An official said that the decision was taken by the authorities as a precaution following the rising number of covid-19 cases for the last few days.

He said that the patients having minor symptoms would be accommodated in the indoor COVID-19 centre while the patients with mild symptoms will be shifted to Bandipora or Srinagar hospital.

An official said that the medical team at the facility is proposed to be available as well.

An official also said that the stadium was turned into a Covid-19 centre last year too but was later closed after the pandemic situation improved.

Earlier, on Thursday the district hospital Bandipora is facilitated with oxygen supply was also converted into Covid-19 hospital.

Meanwhile, Tiba collage Shahdipora Sumbal with 60 beds capacity was also converted into the covid-19 care centre to facilitate the rising number of patients, under the initiative of the District Administration.

According to official, the micro- contaminated zones include Kanni Mohallah, Saddur Mohallah of estate Saderkoot in Tehsil Hajin, Jaago-Mohalla taang-Mohalla in Nasoou, and Haji-Mohalla locality of Qazipora areas are already under heavy surveillance accounting for most of the Covid-19 cases.
