Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Awantipora

Srinagar, Dec 31: Police on Friday arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Tancbagh Pampore intercepted a vehicle Alto bearing registration number JK01H-8095 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Shairgojri son of Lal Mohd Shairgojri and Javaid Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir both residents of Sharshali Khrew. During checking, officers were able to recover 03kgs of Poppy Straw from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 165/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
