Fit Youth Club Ompora- In pursuit of good health

Fitness is not about being better than someone else it’s about being better than you used to be.
Health is a blessing and its importance and usefulness has been made necessary by comparing it with a ‘Thousand blessings’ ( Tanddrusti Hazaar Niyamat Hain) it’s a well known saying ‘ Sound mind remains in a sound body’ only a healthy person can take society forward and maintain his identity and fight for his rights exercise not only changes our body it changes our mind, our attitude and our mood, when health is lost everything is lost giving yourself the same care and attention that we give to others and watch yourself bloom mindset, habits and routines are the building blocks for success towards your wellness goals.
Budgam is famous for its religious and historic sites and now from last few years its famous for tourist destination too. Ompora Budgam is one of the highly populated area of district Budgam. The area is very good in terms of education and other social activities. In order to keep the youths of Ompora fit and fine the respected citizens of this area take lot of initiatives in which FYCO is one of the best initiatives and praised by all locals of the area. The Fit Youth Club Ompora (FYCO) is an amateur club formed in March 2020. The main objective of the club was to provide young people with activities designed to keep them off the streets, immoral activities and other social evils. Vast majority of our youth have fallen prey to the menace of drugs, adults and children have been caged in their homes due to corona pandemic, unemployment and turmoil in the valley has taken toll on the mental health of people resulting in stress, anxiety and tension. Moreover, life style of people has changed drastically from past one decade causing lot diseases such as coronary heart diseases, obesity, type II diabetes, stroke and lung cancer. All the above mentioned health issues can be addressed by engaging people in physical activities and sports. Keeping the above things in mind FYCO took the initiative to involve people and particularly youth in physical activities, make them aware about different health hazards and their prevention, provide guidance, counseling and rehabilitation to youth addicted to drugs and organized drug de addiction programs, sports events, trekking events, recreational activities and other cultural programs.
There are more than one hundred members in the club and is of first kind in the whole district. People from all walks of life like students, employees and businessmen from different areas are in the club who are doing regular physical activities and playing different games in the morning in Railway Station Budgam premises. All the activities are performed under the supervision of a qualified and professional Physical Educationist.
