ADG BSF visits Jammu, reviews security situation on IB, LoC

Jammu, Feb 24: P V Rama Sastry, Additional Director General, (Western Command) Chandigarh visited Jammu Frontier for a three day visit.
Sources said that the ADG arrived at Frontier Hqrs BSF Jammu to visit of area of responsibility (AOR) of Jammu Frontier.
“He was welcomed by D K Boora, IG, Jammu FTR & other officers and was given an impressive guard of honour,” said sources.
D K Boora, IG gave a detailed presentation to the ADG at Frontier Headquarter BSF Paloura Camp, covering all the critical aspects of Border Security and Domination on Jammu International Border and Line of Control, the sources said.
Boora, described the general security scenario of AOR, covering the deployment pattern of BSF battalions and their robust domination aspects on the complete Jammu IB.
IG, Ftr Jammu also informed the ADG about threats being faced by the BSF on Jammu IB, ranging from Tunnelling and cross Border smuggling by Pakistan based elements. A special emphasis was given on the Drone threat posed by Pak Drones abetting Smuggling of Weapons/Narcotics from across the border to Indian Territory. The ADG was made aware of the challenges faced by BSF troops due to rainy season, foggy weather and high altitude related problems.
D K Boora, IG highlighted the recent BSF Jammu achievements like seizure of Narcotics on border, Neutralizing Pak intruders & Detection of Tunnels.
“Thereafter, ADG visited LC area of Sunderbani Sector, accompanied by D K Boora, IG and took stock of situation,” the sources said.
“ADG BSF reviewed the overall deployment of BSF and domination plan on LC area and held discussion with Sector/Battalions commanders on ground and reviewed security situation,” the sources said, adding, “During his visit to Jammu IB, the ADG accompanied by IG Jammu frontier visited Makwal, R. S. Pura, Samba and Kathua border area and was briefed by concerned Sector commanders and Battalion commandants. ADG visited various BOP’s and interacted with BSF officers & men deployed there. He reviewed the border domination plan and held discussions with the concerned Bn commandants.”
Sources said that P V Rama Sastry, ADG also held a meeting with border farmers in R. S. Pura area and exhorted them to practice farming ahead of BSF fencing. He also gave a patient hearing to their concern and assured all possible assistance from BSF.
“During the visit, he also interacted with BSF Jawans and praised them for their dedication & professionalism towards their duties.” (KNO)
