Mobile Apps-A Valid Route

In a bid to put an end to the hectic processes, the government has come up with e-services to reduce the human efforts as well as carrying the documents all time along. Similarly, the government has launched twin mobile phone applications through which the commuters can show their documents to the traffic or police authorities. The mobile apps include DigiLocker and mParivahan. However, there are reports coming to the fore that the officials are not accepting their documents through these mobile applications, putting a question mark over the claims of the government with regard to the launching of e-services. This comes at a time when the government has stated that the documents on DigiLocker platform of the Union Ministry for Electronic and Information and mParivahan mobile app of Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways will now be deemed to be legally recognized documents at par with the original documents as per the provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000. The protests have also been reported by the transporters, who allege harassment by the concerned authorities, claiming that besides don’t minding the mobile applications, they are being stopped after every one kilometre for document checking and other related things. Therefore, after launching the services, there is a need to ensure that all the norm implementing agencies are directed to accept the e-documents so that the government orders are implanted in letter and spirit. Moreover, the implementation of such an order is set to provide a sigh of relief among the masses.
