SVEEP: Mega Awareness Prog on National Voter Contest 2022 held at Gulmarg

Baramulla, Mar 24: As part of National Voter Awareness Contest 2022 kick-started on 25th of January 2022 under the aegis of Election Commission of India, a mega awareness programme under Systematic Voters Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was today organized at the famous tourist resort Gulmarg of Baramulla district in which large number students besides stakeholder from different walks of life participated.
Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole was the chief guest whereas Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar participated in the mega event as the guest of honour.
The ultimate purpose of organizing the event was to strengthen democracy through the active involvement of youth by underlining the importance of every single vote in a democracy.
At the outset, Deputy District Election Officer Baramulla presented a welcome note to the Chief guest, guest of honor and other dignitaries presented in the event.
On the occasion, the Div Com inspected art exhibitions, paintings made by the students from different schools highlighting the importance of the votes and voters in the democratic setup of the country.
He lauded the students who showed their creative and artistic skills and said that youth has a greater role to play in a democratic setup. He said that electoral literacy is the main purpose of this event which is being celebrated throughout the country under the overall supervision of Election Commission of India. He also highlighted the importance of democratic and participatory system and said that our constitution makers favoured democracy over other systems so as to ensure participation and inclusiveness of every section of the society.
District Election Officer/ Deputy Commissioner Baramulla in his address said that the theme of the event is “My vote is my future-Power of one vote” wherein a platform was provided to our budding youth so that they can contribute towards a vibrant and effective democracy. He said that awareness on a large scale was disseminated through this event adding that participation of every stakeholder is a prerequisite for a strong democracy.
On the occasion, a variety of cultural programmes were presented by students depicting the role of democratic setup in the society which was applauded by the participants.
A prize distribution ceremony was also held during which the students were felicitated who have shown the best performance.
Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority, SDM Gulmarg, SDM Pattan, CEO, SE PHE, Tehsildars among other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
