Ganderbal, Mar 26: Residents of Ari-Goripora New colony area of Kangan held a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for installing High Tension (HT) electric poles and wires in the residential neighbourhood.
The live electric wires will pose danger to their lives.
Locals said that the 11,000 KV HT wire will pass over their houses and it can cause damage to people as well as their property.
They said if the PDD is determined to install the wires, it should compensate them first while requesting the higher authorities to look into the matter before going ahead with the plan.
A PDD Official said they visited the site and have decided to install insulated cables in residential area so that it would not pose a threat.
