Shopian, Apr 22: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Friday convened a meeting of officers to discuss the implementation of the traffic management and to review measures being taken for better traffic management plan in the district.
During the meeting, detailed discussions and deliberations were held on the road safety measures including installation of crash barriers, Zebra crossing at various places, installation of signage/ boards, speed breakers near Schools and Hospitals etc.
Vaishya emphasised upon all concerned departments to coordinate in streamlining the traffic management to evade traffic congestion in the district.
The DC directed the concerned authorities to install proper signage boards in the accident prone areas.
During the meeting, various ways and means were discussed to decongest traffic in Shopian town and ensure hassle-free traffic movement in the district.
Besides, DC instructed concerned citizens to take concrete measures including installation of Welcome billboards, development of green spaces, painting of bridges, clearance of encroachment on footpaths for beautification of town.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani, CEO Dubjan and Peer ki Gali Development Authority, ASP Shopian, SDM Zainapora, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Executive Engineer R&B, EO MC Shopian, besides other concerned officials of traffic police were present in the meeting.
