Eid-ul-Fitr and pending wages

Soon after the culmination of the holy month, Ramadan, the Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir like other parts of the country will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. However, there are several employees, who are still craving for their salaries that have been withheld by the government for unknown reasons, thus leaving these employees as well as their families to lurch at large. The people serving in different government departments have so far made fervent appeals to the administration led by Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, seeking release of their pending wages. These employees are mostly daily wagers, casual labourers and other need base workers, who are serving in different departments with dedication. One fails to understand why their salaries remain withheld, especially at a time of the festivals when the government should have on priority released their pending wages for the celebration of the festival. There are people who allege dilly dallying in releasing their wages every year on the occasions of Eid. The people at the helm of affairs need to understand that thousands of families are dependent on these non-regularized employees and thus their festival celebration due to the withholding of salaries are set to get affected. On this occasion, the temporary employees are either forced to stage a protest or address press conferences to raise their voices, which needs to be stopped by releasing their salaries as soon as possible. There is a need to understand the hardships being faced by these employees and the concerned top officials must understand the sufferings of thousands of families and should consider releasing their pending wages at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
