Mega Health Camp witnesses massive response from patients

140 surgeries performed by 43 international surgeons

Srinagar, May 11: Following the directions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole a Mega Health Camp is being organised from 11th may 2022 upto 18th may 2022 across 4 rotary districts of Kashmir division namely Baramulla, Kupwara, Sopore and Ganderbal.
For this Mega Health Camp more than 8700 beneficiaries have been screened so far for various elective surgeries across all districts of Kashmir division which were deferred due to the current Covid 19 pandemic.
Health Camp is held in collaboration with Rotary Club India, an NGO.
On the first Day of Mega Health Camp thousands of patients of North & Central Kashmir districts swarmed the camp hospitals to consult medical specialists from across the country during which patients suffering from health issues and needed immediate surgeries were operated.
During the Camp 140 Surgeries performed on the first Day of Mega Health Camp by non-local specialist doctors assisted by local medical and paramedics staff at District Hospitals of Ganderbal, Kupwara & Baramulla besides at Sub District Hospital Sopore.
Out of 140 Surgeries, 47 medical operations were performed at District Hospital Ganderbal, 41 at District Hospital Kupwara, 32 at Sub District Hospital Sopore, 20 at GMC Baramulla.
The surgeries conducted on the first Day included 60 Ophthalmology, 23 General, 23 Gyne & Obs, 15 dental, 8 ENT, 6 Orthopedics and 5 minor surgeries.
The Mega Health Camp shall be formally inaugurated by Lt. Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha on May 13, 2022.
A multi-speciality surgical treatment has been planned for this camp in which a team of 43 renowned International surgeons and Rotary volunteers together, hope to perform over 3000 major surgeries.
Additional Human Resource of 500 persons in the form of doctors, paramedics and support staff for the camp have been deployed from the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir for this project.
These surgeries will pick up the pace in the numbers in the coming days and will give a big relief to the people of the valley who were waiting for a long time in getting their treatment as the same was on hault due the covid 19 pandemic.
This Mega Camp is the first of its kind being held in Kashmir in which over three thousand Patients shall be operated free of cost with the help of administrative and Rotary.
Apart from free treatment, the administration has made all arrangements for patients accompanying attendants regarding transportation, accommodation, medicine, food etc.
Speaking with respect to MHC, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole said current camp will be yet another step by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to build bridges of goodwill with the people of Kashmir.
