Keep Kashmir connected

As the huge influx of tourists in the Valley has already engaged a huge chunk of transporters with the tourism sector, there is every possibility that the people in Kashmir would face hardships as more vehicles would remain busy with the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra here, thus would certainly push the local people to the wall. Nobody can deny the fact that the number of passenger vehicles is far less than what it should be on the ground, which has been accepted by the transporters as well, who from time to time have written to the concerned officials, asking them to look into the issue for the wellbeing of the people. However, the issue remained unresolved, thus leaving the local populace to the wall. There are people, who believe that the rise in private vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir is the outcome of lack of adequate public transport in the result of which the roads are getting choked frequently and led to the sufferings of people as well. As the apprehensions are being raised by the people over the possible shortage of transport during the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, there is a need to start consultations with the concerned people and come up with a solution so that the locals are not pushed to the wall and the public transport is available easily like today. The government should also consider allowing more vehicles to ply if it finds it profitable in serving the people at the crucial juncture.
