Uri, May 24: The government on Tuesday has started three day Pahari Cultural Festival at Uri border tehsil of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district from Tuesday in order to keep the culture alive which will also give a different twist to the tourism sector of the area, a top tourism official said.
The Director Tourism of Kashmir, G N Itoo, while talking to the media on the sidelines of an event in Uri town said that the government has started three-day Pahari Culture Festival in here to keep the region’s culture alive and that’s what tourists want to see here.
He further said that the traditional culture here is to be kept alive which can give a big boost to tourism sector in the different way that is why such program has been organized here which will be held in other places in future also. “Tourists want to see and enjoy the traditional culture here as the area has huge potential for border tourism,” he said.
Talking about the promotion of border tourism, he said that to make the border areas as major tourist hotspots, the whole consultation is going on as the tourism department is making several plans on it which will be sent to the Central Government for approval following which further initiatives will be taken Immediately.
