What else could be the sluggishness of the administration as the majority of the roads in Srinagar and elsewhere are craving for the macadamization, but nothing is being done in this regard and simultaneously results in hardships to the commuters. From time to time, the people have been appealing to the administration, especially the concerned department, to start a fresh macadamization process in Srinagar to repair the potholed roads. Majority of the commuters here have been complaining that their vehicles have also got damaged due to the potholed roads in Srinagar and adjacent places. It is very difficult to ride or drive on these shabby roads despite the claims being made by the administration about ensuring better facilities to people. The situation is being worsened by many other departments who for their work dig the road and later don’t start a process for its renovation. At multiple places, the commuters could find the roads dug by the Jal Shakti department and others for their works and unfortunately don’t ensure its repair and thus force the people to face hardships. One fails to understand why the process has been delayed by the concerned department as it is the best time for the macadamization process. The delay in starting the process is putting question mark over the claims and on a day-to-day basis, the people from different localities of Srinagar, have been highlighting their sufferings due to the potholed roads through the medium of different media outlets. It is high time for the concerned department to start a process in this regard and ensure better roads to the commuters so that the frequent traffic mess due to the potholed roads is avoided.
