The tourism season is in full bloom while several steps have been taken by the government to increase the footfall of tourists further in Jammu and Kashmir. However, many places, being visited by the tourists on a day-to-day basis lack the mandatory public toilet facilities, which push the people to the wall. The famous places in Srinagar and elsewhere don’t have the public toilet facilities, which forced the tourists to attend to nature in the open at majority of the times. One fails to understand who is going to look into the hardships being faced by the visitors every day in these tourist places. There are people who question the lack of public toilet facilities and said amid the increasing flow of tourists, the number of such facilities must be increased so that the people are not pushed to the wall. Such measures are need of the hour like the others in a bid to appease the visitors and make their journey more enjoyable. The concerned tourism department must identify all such tourist places where the visitors visit on almost regular basis and ensure that the public toilets are constructed especially for the women visitors so that they could heave a sigh of relief. It is imperative to have such a facility for both men and women and the absence of such facilities is landing the visitors in trouble and also puts a question mark over the measures being taken by the department to boost the tourism sector further.
