DC Srinagar chairs meeting on Jal Jeevan Mission

Srinagar, Aug 3: To review the physical and financial status of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in all rural households of the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday chaired a meeting of concerned Officers at Conference Hall of DC Office Complex, here.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) project with special focus on tendering of civil-cum-electro mechanical works aimed at augmentation of existing supply networks.
At the outset, the DC took a comprehensive review of the implementation of all projects taken up under Jal Jeevan Mission in Khonmoh, Harwan, Qamarwari and Srinagar Panchayat Blocks. He specifically held threadbare discussion regarding the status of certifications and uploading of 100 percent FHTCs already achieved by District Srinagar.
He also reviewed status of administrative approval, Technical sanction, tendering, evaluation of bids and allotment of works targeted to attain augmentation as per scheme guidelines.
The DC directed the concerned officials to expedite the tendering and evaluation processes besides, allotment of works be ensured within the fixed deadlines. He also impressed upon the officers to maintain the highest level of transparency and accountability in the implementation process and meet the timelines targeted for completion of various tasks.
He also exhorted upon the officers to put in coordinated efforts to achieve the desired results.
The DC set component wise timelines for completion of different water supply schemes including WSS Fazalabad Colony, WSS Nowgam, WSS Padshahi Bagh, WSS Baginder Lasjan and WSS Upperpora, Balhama to realize the desired outcomes under the flagship programme of the Central Government envisaged to provide safe and adequate drinking water through tap connections to all households in rural areas.
He further asked the concerned officers to conduct the audit of all completed works to ascertain that the works are done as per the requirements and parameters of JJM.
With regard to the Implementation Support Agency (ISA) under Jal Jeevan Mission, the DC stressed the concerned to carry out the activities under ISA with focused attention. He also directed the ISA functionaries to attend the public Block Diwas programme to spread awareness about preservation of water and sanitation issues.
Chief Planning Officer; Superintending Engineer PHE Hydraulic; Superintending Engineer, Mechanical PHE; Executive Engineers Rural Water Supply PHE and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
